Sulphur Teacher Attends History Workshop

Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge and The Union League Legacy Foundation have merged to form Founding Forward. In the spring about 100 applicants submitted for a chance to participate in the Founding Forward Traveling Workshop on French and Indian War. Sulphur Middle School 8th grade American History teacher, Mrs. Carleena Day was one of the 38 members chosen to attend.

This week-long traveling field study explores historic sites in Pennsylvania associated with the French and Indian War including Fort Necessity, Fort Duquesne, Fort Ligonier, Fort Pitt, Heinz History Center, and more. The workshop is under the leadership ofAcademic Director:Arch Hunter, M.Ed. Participants visit sites and discuss the events that led to the French and Indian War, which in turn led to the Revolutionary War. Mrs. Day began the workshop with an in-depth, hands-on tour of Fort Ligonier. Throughout the week many historic sites and museums are visited and she will bring back a wealth of information for her Sulphur students for the years to come.
