Gary Lynn Payne

Gary Lynn Payne was born February 23, 1942, in Carnegie, to the late Eldon Hubert and Betty Jane (Sievers) Payne. He died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in Skiatook, at the age of 82. He and the former Ms. Ann Lenora Kuestersteffen were united in marriage on June 16, 2001, in Sulphur.

Gary grew up in Hammon, graduating from Hammon High School. He spent 29 years working as a land surveyor for the Oklahoma Highway Department prior to retiring in 1990. Gary loved being outdoors, fishing, gardening and watching sports. As an avid OU fan, he enjoyed watching the Sooners play football, as well as women’s softball.

Gary was a very loving and devoted husband and always looked forward to spending time with his beloved family. Gary faithfully attended the Midway Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; daughter, Misty Eastman and husband Keith of Skiatook; son, Steven Payne of Shawnee; sister, Susan Potter and husband Tommy of Canute; stepdaughter, Donna Marsh and husband Danny of Percy, AR; stepson, Alan Anderson of Marietta; three grandchildren, Chase Eastman and wife Krista, Grant Eastman and wife Amberly, and Whitney Eastman and husband Blair; three step grandchildren, Zach Marsh and wife Ellen, Caleb Marsh and fiancé Lacey, and Dylan Anderson; as well as great-grandson Sutton Eastman; and three step great-grandchildren, Charlotte Marsh and Londyn and Will Anderson.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at Midway Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr., officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur.
