Mrs. Clark passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024. She was born July 29, 1959 in Casper, WY to David Franklin Johnson, Sr. and Sandra Sue (Smith) Johnson.
Betty was saved June 6, 1969, at VBS at Fair Church in Empire and baptized on September 7 of the same year.
Betty grew up on a ranch outside of Duncan in the little community of Empire. In the 6th grade a boy named Billy Clark started going to school at Empire and that’s when a 55-year love affair began. All through junior high and high school, Billy and Betty were together, except for one short stint in high school that Bill recounts she broke up with him and had another boyfriend or two “just to make him jealous.”
Billy and Betty graduated high school in 1978 and shortly after that moved to Ada to start a life together.
Betty worked at the Post Office before Will and Garrett were born and then stayed home to care for the boys while they were little. Once the boys were older, she went back to work at the Post Office where she finished out her career as Postmaster in Sulphur.
Betty loved the ranch life. That is something that she and Bill shared all these years. The land, the livestock, the grass, the trees, all of those things were a bond that Bill and Betty shared.
Betty was very active at Fitzhugh Baptist Church. She was the funeral dinner coordinator, a Bible Safari teacher, a cook and a sponsor at Falls Creek and so much more.
Betty was a servant in every way. She enjoyed serving her Lord, her family, her church, her friends, and those she didn’t know through various organizations.
Betty loved her family. She was the most devoted wife, mother, and Bebe that the world has ever known. That love will not diminish because she has left this earth. That love will live on in the life of her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of the home; two sons, Will Clark and wife, Jane of Sulphur, and Garrett Clark and wife, Marissa of Roff; two brothers, David Franklin Johnson, Jr. and wife, Marsha of Duncan, and John LeRoy Johnson and wife, Susan of Duncan; six grandchildren, Wyatt, Gracie, Berkley, Rett, Reese and Dax; and other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father. Bearers were Ron Tidwell, Rocky Northcutt, Shawn Priddy, Ryan Tidwell, B.J. Baker, and Bodie Marion. Honorary bearers were John Johnson, David Johnson Jr, Todd Clark, and Doyle Franklin.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children, 3800 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
