Classes at Sulphur Public Schools will begin this Thursday, Aug. 15, one week later than was originally planned.
The delay was made necessary so the school could complete most of the repairs from damage sustained in theApril 27 tornado, according to Superintendent Matt Holder.
In addition to repairs, many students and staff will have to negotiate around major construction at the high school where work is ongoing on a new gym, auditorium, classrooms and additional construction as part of a $35 million bond proposal passed by district voters in 2022.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution while driving in and around the schools, especially in marked school zones.
