A local fundraiser on August 17, “Party for the Plaza,” raised $20,891.03 to go toward repairs for the Sulphur City Plaza.

According to Sulphur City ManagerAndy Freeman, $10,000.00 for the amount raised was given by Speaker of the House Charles McCall while $783.03 was donated by Venmo and $10,108.00 was received by ticket sales and other donations.

Attendance for the event was free but meal tickets were $10.00 per person.

Several local and area entertainers performed for the crowd braving the scorching heat in an event which began at 4:00 p.m. and continued until 9:00 p.m.

The welcoming address kicked off the show at followed by Jaylin Pike at 4:10; Dirt Road Limousin at 5:00; Bryson Sales and Reagan Watson at 6:15; Sandra DeVault at 6:30 and ended with the feature entertainment, the TJ Band at 7:30 p.m.

Special thanks went to OZ Productions, Cornbread’s, Sooner Foods, Mill Pro Audio, C & C Construction, Poe Prepping, Wandring Pig, Snack Shack, OSD, Sulphur FFA, Fay Bully’s. Hef’s Fish & Q, Vision Bank Davis, Davis Kiwanis Club, Leadership Murray County and First National Bank.

The event was hosted by Citizens for the Plaza, Sulphur Chamber of Commerce and TheArtesian.

Donations can still be made at the Sulphur City Hall.

The plaza was among many structures destroyed in the April 27 tornado.
