Trudy Lucille Knight, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 31, 2024. Born on July 25, 1949, Trudy was a graduate of Sulphur High School and went on to attend nursing school at St. Anthony’s.
Trudy dedicated her life to healthcare, retiring fromArbuckle Memorial Hospital after 43 years of service. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives in her roles as a Nurse, Director of Nursing, and finally, as Director of Outpatient Services. In 2009, Trudy was honored for her fundraising efforts to support the newly constructed hospital, with a nurses’ station being named in her honor. Her unwavering commitment to caring for the residents of Murray County left a lasting, positive impact on the community she loved.
On March 4, 1972, Trudy married the love of her life, Dale, and they cherished 52 wonderful years of marriage. Trudy’s family was the center of her world, and she took immense joy in being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her kind-hearted nature was evident in everything she did. Known for her ability to provide a listening ear to family, friends, patients, and even strangers, Trudy made everyone feel heard and valued.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Eugene Bearden and Helen Winans Bearden, and her sister, Brenda Hudson. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dale Knight; her loving children, son Stacy Knight and daughter Jamie Knight; and five cherished grandchildren.
Trudy leaves behind a legacy filled with love and compassion. Her spirited approach to life and her selfless commitment to helping others will forever be remembered. A memorial service to celebrate Trudy’s life will be held at Crossway Church on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m..
