After asking her four times, Tom and the former Ms. Janis G. Scaff were married on April 1, 1978, in Sulphur. He often told Janis he married her onApril Fools Day so he could tell her they were not really married.
Tom’s life was rather interesting and adventurous. His desire to provide for his family took him from Dougherty to Istanbul and Sulphur to Switzerland, mostly due to his dedicated service to the United States Army and the Oklahoma National Guard.

At the time of his death, he was employed with the Chickasaw Nation, working as a security guard at the Cultural Center in Sulphur. Tom greatly enjoyed his job there and formed great friendships with his co-workers.
