Louie Rose, of Sulphur Veterans Center, was born on March 12, 1934 in Oakland, California to Frank and Rose (Pimental) Rose. He passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in Sulphur at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 25 days.
Louie enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and was stationed in Guam before being discharged in 1955. Louie and Norman Jean Campbell were married in 1956. Louie and his family moved to Oklahoma in 1970 where he worked for Dolese Rock Quarry and later for Nye’s Cabinet Shop. He then began working for the Oklahoma State Highway Department where he worked until his retirement.
Louie enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with his friends at the Veteran’s Center.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dorothy Rose, Patsy Rose, Diane Rose and George Rose.
Louie is survived by two sons and spouses, Bobby and Denise Rose of Sulphur and Larry and Jennifer Rose of Oklahoma City; a brother, Edward Rose of Morgan Hill, California; his grandchildren, Lyndsey and Justin Ramer, Skyler and Blakely Betterton, Carrie and Corey Cole, Ciarra Rose, Jordyn Whitman and Ryder Holley, and Steven and Teresa Nguye; great-grandchildren: Brityn and Jace Ramer, Adelie Betterton, Lexie Betterton, Avery Betterton, Caden Cole, Carter Cole and Casten Cole.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024 at the Sulphur Veterans Colony Chapel with Rev. Willard McCartney officiating. Interment followed at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home in Sulphur. Military honors were provided by the U.S. Navy honor team.
