Multiple Agencies Work To Arrest Pair In Vehicle Thefts

Sulphur Police, Sheriff ’s Office, NPS Rangers Join In Multi-Day Probe

On Sunday, Sept. 8, the Sulphur Police Department took two reports of stolen vehicles. The vehicles had been taken from separate locations on the west side of Sulphur, according to reports.

Murray County deputies then learned of the incidents and began assisting in the investigation, said Undersheriff Ben Flowers.

According to Flowers, deputies Brandon Eddy, and Daniel Rogers recovered one of the vehicles last Sunday evening in the Hennepin area.

In the following days, officer Bryson Rogers, of the Sulphur Police Department, obtained a video of the remaining vehicle which provided information on two suspects.

Flowers said Brandon Kilgore and Merideth Hubby had been seen together in the vehicle, according to eye witnesses in the area.

On Monday, Sept. 9, Flowers said reports of the remaining stolen vehicle began coming into Murray County Dispatch. Sulphur officers and county deputies quickly responded to the area in search of the vehicle and suspects. Deputy Charline Bates, of the Murray County Sheriffs Office, found the vehicle in a wooded area off Taylor Rd., in the eastern portion of Murray County.

Bates arrested Merideth Hubby without incident, but her alleged co-conspirator fled on foot, according to Flowers.

Flowers said lawmen from the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Dept., Sulphur Police Dept., and the Murray County Sheriff’s Office joined Bates and searched the area for several hours but were unable to locate Kilgore.

Officers found personal items of Kilgore and Hubby in the vehicle prior to its return to its rightful owner, said Flowers. Then on Friday, Sept. 13, Murray County deputies received information as to Kilgore’s location.

According to Flowers, Kilgore had multiple warrants for his arrest, and did not surrender as law enforcement surrounded him.

Lawmen from the Sulphur Police Dept, National Park Service, and the Murray County Sheriff’s Office spent the evening attempting to gain Kilgore’s compliance, said Flowers, and eventually entry was made into the residence Kilgore had sought as refuge. A search of the common areas in the residence was completed, which then led officers to the attic area.

During a search of the attic, Kilgore was found hiding above the front porch area. He was naked and in need of medical attention, according to Flowers.

“Lawmen made a quick decision to lower Kilgore through the roof to transfer him to medical personnel, and after treatment, he was taken into custody on his outstanding warrants,” said Flowers.
