Roy Curtis Webb was born February 23, 1944, in Ryan, to the late James L. “Gub” and Minnie L. (Pursley) Webb. He died on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, in Oklahoma City, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Roy and his family moved from Walters, to the Woodland area in 1950, prior to settling in Davis in 1955. After graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1963, he began a lifelong career in the oil field. In addition to the oil field, Roy spent his entire adult life in the cattle business. Roy absolutely loved tending to his cattle.

Roy was one who never met a stranger. The man had a natural talent of telling stories and enjoyed talking to anyone who would stand still long enough to visit with him. If you were in a hurry, you certainly did not want to run into Roy. He always had a funny story or a good joke to share, and they were always lengthy. And Lord help if he started a conversation about politics. His daily routine always included stops at several area coffee shops, restaurants, and often ended visiting with the guy around Bob’s shop.

When it came to money, it was often said that Roy was so tight that he squeaked when he walked, until it came to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With them, there were no limits. Spending time with them always brought him great joy and happiness.

Roy loved his family immensely. For many years, anyone in the family who could, met on Thursday nights for family dinner. That number could range from five to 25. No matter the number, a good time was had by all. Roy was “old school” in many ways. His word was his bond, a handshake sealed a deal, and his loyalty never had to be questioned.

Survivors include his children, Bobby Webb and wife Brenda, Tabby Pletcher and fiancé James Stafford, and Shelley Sweat and husband Gary; grandchildren, Michael Jennings and wife Tamara and their children Brody and Jagger, Logan Phillips and husband Pen and their children Griffin and Ryatt, Bethany Hopkins and her children Cassandra, Easton and Rhyker, Forrest Sweat and daughter Remington, Christian Reynolds and husband Zane and their son Gunner, and Jeni Moore; one brother, Wayne Webb and wife Betty; and the mother of his children, Jan (Allen) Davis.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife Rilla Webb on Dec 2, 2021; one daughter, Cindy Webb; stepmother, Methel Webb; and one nephew, Chad Webb.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at the Midway Hill Baptist Church. Pastors Willard McCartney Jr. and Tony Randol will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
