The newly seated City of Sulphur Planning and Zoning Commission members have been busy with meetings this past week.
The group met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and for a special meeting on Monday, Oct. 7.
At the regular meeting, members discussed adopting by-laws as proposed by FEMA representative Dennis Dunnigan.
After discussion of the presented by-laws, the members voted to table approval until more review could be made.
On Monday members met to view building plans of The Mix Mercantile, a downtown business destroyed in the April 27 tornado.
Owners David and Christy Morris showed the group the plans for the new structure.
No action could be taken on the plans as the building permit for the project was issued before the commission was appointed.
Even though it was not on the agenda, Dunnigan addressed the board concerning issues with the city zoning ordinance as written and possibly combining it with another ordinance. Members could not act on the issue because it was not an agenda item and should not have been presented and discussed at the meeting.
All five commission members were present at the meetings.
