Jay McClure was born on April 15, 1976 to Linda (Primrose) and Paul McClure in Sulphur. He passed away at home surrounded by friends and family after a long time battle with ALS on October 19, 2024.
Jay lived his whole life in Murray County. He attended and graduated from Sulphur High School and went on to join the U.S. Army, where he proudly served in the Airborne Artillery Unit until Honorably Discharged for services rendered to his country. After serving in the military, he owned and worked at the Sulphur Farm & Ranch for many years before joining the Murray County Sheriff’s office where he served as Undersheriff until his retirement.
Jay lived with a passion, and loved many things. Jay loved God, his country, his freedom, guns, anything outdoors and deeply enjoyed teaching others. More than anything, Jay loved his family. His children were the light of his life, and when he wasn’t pulling pranks on his family and friends, you could find him at the boy’s baseball tournaments or hunting with the kids, cherishing every memory he made with them. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Jay was preceded in passing by a brother, Brian McClure; paternal grandparents, Ruth and James McClure; and maternal grandfather, Jimmy Primrose.
He is survived by his children, Madelyn McClure and Jayden McClure, of the home; father, Paul and wife Bettye McClure; mother, Linda and husband, David Pittman; brothers, Chris McClure of Sulphur, Paul and wife, Robin McClure, Jr., of New Jersey, Scott and wife, Lisa Pittman, of Norman and Jeff and wife, Shelly, of Healdton; sisters, Lisa McClung, and Lori Tresia, both of Norman; as well as his grandmother, Fern Primrose, of Davis and a host of other family and friends.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at the Crossway Baptist Church with Dick Terry and John Walton officiating. Interment followed at Drake Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.
