Linda Jean Fondren was born August 20, 1946, in Lindsay, to the late Edward J. and Mable (Dennis) Osborn. She passed from this life on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 78. Linda and David Harold Fondren were united in marriage on May 11, 1967, in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2017.
Linda grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Southeast High School, Class of 1964. She and her family moved to Murray County in 1970. In 1980, she began a 44-year career with Sooner Foods. Her employment with Sooners began in Davis and ended with her retirement from the Sulphur store as office manager, in July 2024.
At an early age, Linda became a baptized believer and follower of Jesus Christ. During her work experience at Sooner Foods, she met local minister Thomas Thompson who played an important role in providing her spiritual comfort.
Linda enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for her beloved family. For many years, Sunday dinners were the highlight of beginning a new week. Friday evenings were often spent playing Canasta or Phase 10.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Fondren and wife Renee of Sulphur; two daughters, Kim Stewart and husband Keith of Edmond and Lisa Boydston and husband Wes of Luther; seven grandchildren, Andrew,A.J., Joel, Micah, Megan, Marti and Lindsay; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as one niece, Barbara Parr and husband Randy; and two nephews, Richie Choat and wife Audra, and Brian Choat.
In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by one grandson, David Edward Fondren; and her sister, Jackie Choat.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur. Joel Stewart and Brother Thomas J. Thompson will officiate the service.
