Gold Ball Just Out Of Dog’s Reach In State Title Thriller
The gold ball was literally just inches away from the Bulldog’s reach last Thursday as they battled Lincoln Christian in the state title game in Edmond. Sulphur rallied from a 15-point deficit in the third quarter with a late touchdown in the fourth and had a chance to either tie the game with a conversion kick or try to go ahead with a two-point try. Only 1:13 was left in the game.
Bulldog coach, Corey Cole, opted for the run, calling on junior running back Maddax Mobly, who rushed for 139 yards and four TDs in a stellar effort up to that point. Mobly slashed off of the left guard-tackle position and appeared to have broken into the end-zone, but instead, came up just inches short, and Sulphur lost in a heart-breaker, 28-27.
