Davis Area Crash Claims Two Lives

Atwo-vehicle accident, two miles south of Davis on Monday, Jan. 6, claimed two lives, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers identified the two victims as Sheryl Williamson, 60, Ardmore, and Robbie Bennett, 38, Sulphur. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Murray County EMS officials.

According to the patrol, the accident happened about 5:33 p.m. on Primrose Lane, a main east-west route, south of Davis, that connects to U.S. 77 and S.H. 7 via S.H. 110.

According to the patrol, Williamson was westbound on Primrose Lane when her 2018 Ford Explorer crossed the center line and struck Bennett’s 2012 GMC.

Other aspects of the accident, including the condition of both drivers and the cause of the collision remain under investigation, troopers said.

The patrol said seatbelts were equipped in both vehicles and in use by Williamson only.

Trooper Chris Earnhart investigated the crash. He was assisted by Lt. Austin Ludwyck, Trooper Francisco Valdez, Trooper Matthew Rackley, Probationary Trooper Cory White, Trooper Randy Jackson, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, and the Davis Police and Fire Departments.

One Dead In Crash Near Madill

In an earlier accident, about two miles north of Madill on January 5, a Mannsville man died when his vehicle ran off the road, overturned and struck a tree, the patrol reported.

Killed in that crash was Juan Alvarado, 37, according to the patrol.

Troopers said Alvarado was driving a 2011 Kia Sorento northbound on S.H. 199 about 10:32 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the road to the right. The driver then over corrected and his vehicle reentered the road before overturning and striking a tree.

The condition of the driver at the time of the crash and the cause of the accident remain under investigation, according to the patrol.

Ardmore Fisherman Drowns

An Ardmore fisherman drowned on the Washita River in Bryan County after falling out of his boat, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The drowning occurred on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2024 about 5:00 p.m., troopers said.

The victim was identified as Ronald Scott Stoker, 52.

Troopers said Stoker was baiting jug lines when, for an unknown reason, he fell from the boat into 54-degree water.

A personal flotation device was not in use, troopers said.
