Sulphur, Davis Chamber Awards Presented

“How Sweet It Is To Be In Murray County” was the theme for the annual Joint Chamber of Commerce held last Thursday evening, January 16, at the Murray County Expo Center.

Sulphur and Davis Chambers of Commerce members and guests came together to honor several groups, businesses and individuals at the event.

In a packed house, attendees were welcomed by the 2024 Club Presidents, Seandra Ramer , Sulphur, and Kelsey Lee, Davis.

Isiah Hodges led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the invocation by Cory Wood.

Before announcing the various winners, both club presidents recognized and introduced out-going as well as new board members for each club.

Following is a list of the awards presented during the evening as well the winner with other nominees listed in each category.

They are:

Civic Club of the Year— Davis Kiwanis Club (Other nominees were Beautiful Day-Davis, Hope Center Ministries, and Sulphur Kiwanis Club.)

Leadership Murray County Leader of the Year— Seandra Ramer The other nominee wasAshley Hood.

Sulphur Small Business of the Year— Arbuckle Veterinary Clinic;

( Other nominees were Arbuckle Aesthetics, Bigfoot E-Bikes, Bison Plumbing, Bromide Mountain Company, Cup & Crumb, Flowers Heating & Air, Painted Pretty Salon & Spa Suites, Pebbles Real Estate, Sulphur Abstract & Title, and Sulphur Nutrition.)

Davis Small Business of the Year— Sooner Pharmacy of Davis (Other nominees were Bison Plumbing, Condition Red Firearms, and Initial Point Realty.)

Sulphur Large Business of the Year—Centenario Mexican Bar & Grill (See Awards, page 2) Davis Large Business of the Year—Cross Timber Hospice Davis Helen Webber Citizen of the Year—Casey Killblane (The other nominees were Shane “Cornbread” Hale, Karri Jones, Randi Nowlin, D’Andra Parsons, Kendall Shores, and Alisha Thompson.)

The Leadership Murray County Leader of the Year award was presented to Seandra Ramer, center. Presenting the award were Lacee Sartors, left, and Bill Wright, right. The award was presented during the combined banquet of the Sulphur and Davis Chambers of Commerce last Thursday. Ramer is the outgoing Sulphur Chamber president.
The Sulphur Large Business Of The Year award was presented to the Centenario Mexican Bar & Grill, represented by Daniel and Maite Moreno.

Sulphur De Lannon Citizen of the Year—Cindy Bates.

(The other nominees were Gary Ashford, Stefanie Caldwell-Calistro, Laquita Dayton, Brandon Flowers, Kemper and Mona Howe, Tonya Jacobs, and Seandra Ramer) Before closing remarks were given, the 2024 presidents passed the gavel to the 2025 club presidents.

Seandra Ramer welcomed Lacee Sartors to lead the Sulphur members and Kelsey Lee welcomed Brad Bentley for the Davis club.

The event was catered by Robin Sullivan.
