It was a double dose of victory for the Sulphur powerlifting teams last Friday at the Bethel meet, the Dogs and Lady Dogs both lifting their way to the championship.
Both teams crowned two individual champions en route victory.
The boys were led by first place winners Austin Garrett in the 181-pound division and Connor Sullivan in the 242-pound category.
Leading the girls were champions Abby Hardoin at 108 pounds and Zoli May at 136 pounds.
The two teams competed in the large school divisions at the Firelake Arena in Shawnee against a host of competitors.
The boys scored 196 team points, earning the Large School Champion plaque and had 11 individual medalists.
In addition to Garrett and Sullivan, the Dogs were led by second place winners Xavier Longoria (157) and Caden Frost (275), third place winners Manuel Gonzalez (123), Trenton Whitehead (181, AJ Gordon (Hwt.), fourth place winner Nash Williamson (242), and fifth place winners Daniel Gonzalez (132), Cooper Cole (168), and JoJo Gray (181).
The Lady Bulldogs racked up 158 points en route to their championship, beating a 2024 state champion with six individual placers.
In addition to first place winners Hardoin and May, the Lady Bulldogs were led by second place winners Gracie Ratchford (150), and Savannah Patrick (165), and third place winners Kensley Rochelle (136) and Olivia Cox (198).
