Expo Center To Host Severe Weather Event

Murray County will be host to the 13th Annual Severe Weather Awareness/Disaster Preparedness Day on February 22 at the Murray County Expo Center.

In the past, the event has been held in Carter County but due to recent events in Murray County, it has been moved to here this year.

The event is open to the public and will feature many participating agencies.

The kick-off will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m. There will be a storm spotter training session at 10:00 a.m. for anyone interested.

Rick Smith of the National Weather Service will be the lead instructor.

Participating agencies will include the following: Murray County Emergency Management, City of Ardmore Emergency Management, Carter County Emergency Management, Love County Emergency Management, Garvin County Emergency Management, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, National Weather Service-Norman Office, Carter County Skywarn Association, Carter County emergency Response Team, Arbuckle Technology Society, Southern Oklahoma Health Departments, Oklahoma Homeland Security,All Carter County Fire Departments, Murray County E-911, Oklahoma Mesonet, Murray County Fire Departments, City of Davis, City of Sulphur, Davis Chamber of Commerce and Sulphur Chamber of Commerce.

The event is sure to be very informative for local citizens and all encouraged to attend.
