Sulphur, Murray State Join In Partnership For ACE Program

What began as a pilot program in 2023, is now an official partnership between Sulphur Public Schools and Murray State College.

On Friday, Superintendent Matt Holder and Murray State President Dr. Tim Faltyn signed the contract in the foyer of the Sulphur High School to implement theACE program, which stands for “Accelerated College Experience.” It allows students to attend concurrent classes while in high school with the potential to graduate high school with not only a high school diploma, but also an associate’s degree from Murray State.

Faltyn said even though other schools in the area also participate in the program, Sulphur was the first to sign on.

Holder said he was excited about the partnership and the career opportunities it allows Sulphur students. Holder told Faltyn he appreciates all his work in getting this program off the ground.

Sulphur currently has 75 students enrolled in concurrent classes while attending high school with five of them on track to receive their associate’s degree at their high school graduation.

The students currently enrolled in the ACE program are Johnnie Pearce, Paisley Cravatt, Keiki’Lani Blasingame, Brodie Jennings, and Mikayla Newport.
