Long Time Ag Educator Continues Legacy Of Service To County

The Murray County Jr. Livestock Show Committee recognized and dedicated the 2025 show to Glenn Mann, Sulphur native and life-long rancher, teacher, and leader in Oklahoma agriculture.

Agriculture has played an important part of Mann’s life having started his own hay hauling business while in high school. His 4-H and FFA projects included show steers as well as swine, all being bred and raised on his own farm. In high school he not only had his own swine farrowing operation but was one of the first from Murray County to advance his steer project to the Oklahoma State Spring Livestock show where he qualified for the premium sale.

Mann’s love for agriculture led him to pursue a degree in Agriculture Education at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1978. He used his education to teachAg Education at Roff, Dickson, Springer and Sulphur Public Schools. Even though retired from the classroom, his passion for knowledge and livestock showing continues as he still spends hundreds of hours to help many 4-H and FFAmembers with their livestock projects.

Mann has served on several ag-related boards and is currently serving as President of the Murray County Fair Board and the Farmer’s Service Administration Board.

Mann and his family are a 5th generation of farming and ranching family in the Nebo Community where he continues to run around 175 cattle and calves, all which lead to his father’s and grandparent’s ties to cattle and a dairy herd. Today, he also has a successful and show goat operation which is around 75 head and growing.

Mann and his wife of 50 years, Ann, live on the ranch and have two children, both of whom were raised working on the ranch and were successful with their own livestock projects during their school years. Jeremy Mann and his wife, Franny, continue to work in the farming and ranching field at the family Roos Ranch and daughter, Lacy, works in the oil and gas industry. Glenn’s grandchildren, Hunter, Gus and Shia have carried on their grandfather’s love of animals with Gus and Shia successfully exhibiting their goat projects at this year’s show and if Bennett, who lives in Edmond, was a little closer there is no doubt he would be in the show ring as well.

Mann is leaving a legacy with hundreds of students he has taught over the years and he continues to keep agriculture alive and strong in not only our county but in the state and nation as well.
