Vinson Barely Misses School Record In Pole Vault, Hardoin Wins Hurdles

Eli Vinson nearly beat the school pole vault record as the Sulphur track team kicked off their season with the Rock Creek Invitational on Monday, March 10.

With the win already secured at 13 feet, the senior had the bar raised to beat the school record, but his elbow hit the bar.

Overall, the Sulphur boys track team placed fourth.

“This was a great first meet and a promising start to the year,” Coach Emile Heitland said. “Eli has a good shot to break the record this year.”

In the races, Heitland noted that several events reached times faster than where the athletes were this early in the season last year.
