Filing Period For Sulphur Council Starts Monday

Three Council Seats Up For Election

Candidates interested in filing for municipal office in on the Sulphur City Council can file Declaration of Candidacy beginning at 8:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2024.

Those who wish to file for the municipal office must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the Sulphur City Hall, located at 600 W. Broadway, Sulphur. Filing will be February 12th, 13th, and 14th, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at http://oklahoma.gov/elections/candidiates/candidate-filing. html and at Sulphur City Hall.

Rhonda Summers, Secretary of the Murray County Election Board, reminded candidates that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed. Contests against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the County Election Board.

Declaration of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:

•Sulphur Municipal, Councilman Ward 1

•Sulphur Municipal, Councilman Ward 3

•Sulphur Municipal, Councilman Ward 5 Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board Office at 580-622-3800.

The Murray County Election Board is located at 703 W. 11th, Sulphur, OK and is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
