Following a brief executive session, with no action taken, the board returned and voted to re-employ the following administrators: high school principal Clete Cole and assistant Toby Todd; middle school principal Steven Pyle; intermediate principal John Mann; and elementary principal Shannon Muck and assistant Paul Scroggins.
The board also accepted the resignations of Tracy Cook and Jane Clark; and approved employment for Channing Hickman, high school teacher/coach; and Sydney Hickman, Special Ed teacher.
Superintendent Matt Holder presented the financial report to the board. Holder told members the district is in “great financial shape” with the advalorem collections that have been received.
Holder said the total balance of all funds currently stands at $8,765,492.00.
In the superintendents report, Holder touched on several bills coming up in the current legislative session that he will be watching over the next few months which could affect state school districts.
Holder also announced Teachers of the Year selections for each site. The teachers are selected by their peers and are as follows: elementary Logan Philips, intermediate Jeanna Scroggins, middle school Tracy Jones and high school Whitney Pyle.
Building principals Mann and Pyle reported on activities in their sites. Holder reported for Cole and Muck for their buildings and on current sports that are in full swing.
In other board action, members approved adding Kassie Bass, Jayci Self and Shanda Loper to the substitute list pending standard background checks.
Members discussed the possibility of creating a sick leave sharing policy but tabled action on the measure. Following the discussion and ideas for the policy, members referred to staff to create a contract and bring back to board for approval.
