The filing period for three positions on the Sulphur City Council got underway Monday and will continue until Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
As of presstime Tuesday, two men had filed for the Ward 3 position, including incumbent Darrell Cole and former Sulphur Fire Chief, Gary Tingle.
In Ward 5, former Sulphur councilor Robert Clark, a local CPA, threw his hat back into the ring and was the only one to have filed so far. The incumbent in that position is Dan Gordon.
Ward 1 incumbent Alan McKay was the only one to have filed for his seat as of noon Tuesday.
The non-partisan election will be held Tuesday, April 2. The term for each position is for two years.
According to the Sulphur City Charter, all candidates seeking office will be voted upon by all the voters within the city limits, but the individual must reside in the ward for which they are seeking.
The Murray County Election Board, who conducts the actual voting, will designate the polling places.
