Adkison, Runyan Named To LC All-Conference Team

Two Sulphur girls basketball players were recognized for their seasons this week.

Senior Rasey Runyan was named to the Lake Country All-Conference team, while fellow senior Kinzi Adkison was named honorable mention.

Runyan led Sulphur with 11.5 points and 5.7 rebounds this season, finishing with the 15th best single season scoring average under longtime head coach Toby Todd.

“She had a great season for us and had one of the better seasons since I have been at Sulphur scoring the ball,” Todd said.

Runyan also led the team in field goal percentage from inside the arc, shooting 39% on the year.

She had 21 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a win over Casady in late January at the Washington tournament.

She had a season-high 22 points and eight rebounds in an early February road win at Dickson.

Adkison averaged 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in her final season.

“She was our true leader on the floor on offense and defense,” Todd said. “She was a player with skills I compare to a swiss army knife.”

Adkison also led the Lady Dogs with 1.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

“Throughout her career, she had to play just about every position on the floor,” Todd said. “I thought she was deserving of first team honors. She was highly intelligent in knowing what everyone on the court was supposed to be doing.”

Adkison had a career-high 21 points, six steals and four rebounds in an early season win over Boswell in December.

Sulphur finished the season with a 6-19 record.
