Reid’s State Record Deadlift Powers Girls To 5th In State Meet

The Sulphur girls powerlifting team finished its strong season this week, as the Lady Dogs competed in both regionals and state meets over the past seven days.

Sulphur finished 5th at the state meet on Monday, led by Codi Reid who was 3rd overall and set a new state record.

Reid lifted 345 lbs. in the deadlift, good for a new state mark.

She totaled 735 in her weight class, five more lbs. than last week at regionals.

McClure was 5th at state with a total of 500, while Hardoin was 6th at 495 lbs.

Savannah Patrick was 8th in her class, totaling 705 lbs. and Gracie Ratchford was 9th with a total of 675.

Sulphur finished 2nd at the regional meet last Tuesday, led by Hardoin who was 2nd.

She had a total of 505. Reid finished 3rd with a total of 730, while McClure was 4th individually with a total of 480.

Ratchford was 5th overall, totaling 695, while Patrick was 7th with a total of 670.
