I-35 northbound was closed for nearly two hours on Monday following a three-vehicle accident in a construction zone, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The injury accident occurred about 3:43 p.m. in Garvin County at mile-marker 70 in the northbound inside lane, troopers reported.
According to the patrol, four people were injured, including two who were airlifted from the scene to hospitals in Oklahoma City and admitted for a variety of injuries.
The patrol said the crash happened when a vehicle, driven by Paul Ring, 77, Salina, KS, struck the rear of another vehicle stopped in traffic due congestion in the construction zone. That vehicle was then forced into the rear of a second stopped vehicle.
Ring and a passenger, Vida Ring, 77, were taken to Pauls Valley Hospital and treated for trunk and internal injuries, the patrol reported.
Troopers said the driver of the vehicle first struck in the rear, Erica Garza, Oklahoma City and a 16-year-old female passenger, were both airlifted to Oklahoma City area hospitals and each admitted in serious but stable condition.
