The Sulphur girls golf team got back into action after spring break on Monday, playing well at Marlow.

Sulphur finished T-4th as a team, as Sulphur was led by Paisley Eason once again.

Eason finished in a tie for 1st but lost in a scorecard playoff, finishing 2nd individually with an 82.

“She has played very well in the first two tournaments,” said Sulphur head coach Linn Marshall. “But what I am most proud of is after each tournament was over, she immediately knew she could have done much better.”

Eason finished 7th at the Purcell Invitational at Brent Bruehl Golf Course in Purcell before spring break, shooting 89.

“She knew that she left some strokes out there,” Marshall said. “Even after improving by seven shots, she is still looking for ways to improve and as her coach you can’t ask for anything more than that.”

Reagan Watson and Brooke-Lynn Gaddy each shot 102 to tie for 30th, while Emrie Williams shot 104 and Landry Couch shot 106.

“We were 22 shots better than we were in the first tournament of the year,” Marshall said. “I’m proud of the work the girls have put in so far this season.”

Marshall praised his team for the improvements they have made already this year, especially on the greens.

“Aside from Paisley, the rest of the team has improved, as well,” he said. “Landry and Reagan are making putts this year that they haven’t made in the previous years.”

“And then there is Emrie and BrookeLynn, who shot 10 and 29 strokes better.”

Marshall thinks his group can make a big run later this spring in the regional and state tournaments.

“I believe that if we continue to get better, we can make a big push again later this season,” he said.

Sulphur was at Tishomingo on Tuesday and the Lady Dogs will host their annual tournament at Sulphur Hills on April 4.
