Commissioners OK Water Line Grant

Murray County Commissioners convened into a public hearing regarding the proposed CDBG Grant Waterline Project for Murray County Rural Water District #1. The group met at the regular weekly meeting on Monday.

Murray County Commissioners convened into a public hearing regarding the proposed CDBG Grant Waterline Project for Murray County Rural Water District #1. The group met at the regular weekly meeting on Monday.

Millie Vance, grant writer for the project, explained the project to all attendees and answered questions prior to the closing of the hearing.

Following the hearing the board approved the following agenda items in connection with the grant application:

•adopting citizen’s participation plan for the CSBG program;

•adopting resolution to apply for the grant;

•approved resolution on Leveraged/ Matching Funds for the waterline project;

•adopting residential anti-displacement plan for the project;

•approved inter-local cooperative agreement with the Rural Water District 1 for the grant project;

•reading and approval of the 2024 Fair Housing Proclamation; and

•approved Section 3 Resolution and Plan for the project.

The grant will be for $600,000.00 and the Murray County Rural Water District #1 will be contributing $789,887.91 to the project for a total project cost of $1,089,130.00.

The grant will fund the laying of approximately two miles of water line along S.H. 7, east of Sulphur.

The grant application is due in early May with notification of approval in August, 2024.

In other agenda action, the board approved designating receiving agents for the 911 Sales Tax and approved a resolution for declaration of surplus and disposing of equipment by the Murray County Health department.

All three members were present at the meeting.
