Sulphur had one of its best weeks of the season last week, as the Lady Dogs went 5-4 over the week to even their record at 11-11 on the year.
Sulphur beat Kingston 9-1 on Tuesday before a busy weekend in the Turnpike Showdown, an event co-hosted by the Lady Dogs and Roff.
Sulphur beat Davis 6-1 and Madill 5-1 on Thursday, before falling to Turner 9-0 that evening.
The Lady Dogs rebounded with a 10-0 win over Healdton on Friday but fell later that day 5-4 in a tough loss to Turner, again.
Sulphur fell to Cyril 8-4 to open the day on Saturday before rebounding with a 9-8 win over Tupelo.
The final game of the weekend saw Sulphur fall 11-2 to Cyril.
Sulphur 9, Kingston 1
Sulphur used a big 3rd inning to pull away from Kingston last Tuesday, picking up an important win.
The Lady Dogs scored six in the 3rd to take a 6-1 lead before adding three more in the 5th to end the game.
Kinzi Adkison was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in the win.
Brylie Sanford was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Codi Reid also doubled in the win.
Kinsley Rochelle was 2-for-3 with a 2-run triple in the win. Gracie Ratchford had two RBIs for Sulphur.
Sanford got the win on the mound, as the Sulphur defense was sharp, allowing just two hits in the five innings.
Sulphur 6, Davis 1
Sulphur had 13 hits and once again, played great defense in Thursday’s win over Davis.
The Lady Dogs led 3-0 through an inning and 5-0 through two innings, putting Davis away early.
Lily Brooks was 3-for-3 with a double, while Reid was also 3-for-3 with an RBI double.
Cheynne Ruth had a 2-run double in the win, and Adkison was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Sanford and the Dogs were great in the field again, as the senior picked up the win, scattering six hits and allowing just the one run across five innings.
Sulphur 5, Madill 1
A big 1st inning was just enough for Sulphur, as the Lady Dogs continued the formula from their previous two wins.
Sulphur scored five runs in the bottom of the 1st and that would be all they needed.
Sanford allowed six hits again and just one run, as Sulphur continued to use the winning formula of timely hitting and great defense.
Brooks had a 2-run double, while Sanford and Rochelle each had an RBI double in the win.
Turner 9, Sulphur 0
The formula didn’t come to light in Thursday’s final game, as Turner had 14 hits and got on the Lady Dogs early.
The Falcons scored three in the 1st and six more in the 4th.
Sydnie Rolin had two hits for Sulphur, while Reid, Adkison, Sanford, Ruth and Mykell Woods each singled for the Lady Dogs in the loss.
Sulphur 10, Healdton 0 Sanford and the defense rebounded in a nice way on Friday, as the Lady Dogs had a big inning offensively to pull away from Healdton.
Sulphur scattered six hits and had seven runs in the 3rd to pull away from Healdton.
Reid was 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the win, while Ruth and Brooks each had a 2-run double.
Adkison had an RBI double, while Ratchford was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a double.
Chloe Drawbaugh and Paige Collins each had two hits for Sulphur, while Sanford drove in two runs to help her cause.
Turner 5, Sulphur 4 The Lady Dogs fell in a tough one on Friday, as Turner took a late lead to pick up another win over Sulphur.
Sulphur scored three runs in the 3rd to take a 4-2 lead.
Turner cut it to within a run in the top of the 4th to make it 4-3.
But the Falcons scored two in the top of the 5th and Sulphur was unable to answer in the bottom half.
Reid was 2-for-3 with two doubles in the loss.
Ratchford was 2-for-2 again with a double and Adkison had a 2-run double for Sulphur.
Sanford and Rochelle each had an RBI single in the loss.
Cyril 8, Sulphur 4
After Cyril got up early on Sulphur, the Lady Dogs battled back but it wasn’t enough on Saturday.
Cyril led 5-0 through two innings before Sulphur responded with three runs in the 4th to cut it to 6-4.
But Cyril added two more in the 6th to push the lead out.
Sulphur had 13 hits as a team, led by two each from Brooks, Ruth and Drawbaugh.
Reid had another RBI double, while Rolin had a 2-run single for Sulphur.
Sulphur 9, Tupelo 8
In an exciting game that came down to the final at bat, Sulphur held on in a win over Tupelo on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Dogs had a 6-5 lead heading into the 7th before scoring three runs in the top half.
But Tupelo would respond.
They added three runs of their own but came up one run short, as Sanford got the Tigers to hit into a ground out and pop up, both taken care of by Adkison, to survive.
Tupelo led 5-1 through two innings before Sulphur added two runs in the 3rd and three more in the 5th to take the lead.
Sulphur had 16 hits as a team, led by Sanford, who was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Reid was 2-for-3 with a double, while Adkison was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Ratchford was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Ruth was also 2-for-3.
Cyril 11, Sulphur 2
A late push by Cyril proved to be the difference in the final game of the Turnpike Showdown.
Sulphur tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the top of the 3rd before Cyril regained a 3-2 lead in the bottom half.
Cyril added another run in the 4th, before piling on three in the 5th and four more in the 6th.
Drawbaugh had an RBI double, while Rolin was 2-for-2 in the loss.
