Robert Dean Price was born on January 28, 1941, in the Chickasaw National Recreational Area, in Sulphur, to the late Hubert & Eva (Roach) Price. He passed from this life on Friday, May 24, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 83.

A lifelong resident of Sulphur, Robert attended Sulphur Public Schools, prior to joining the United States Navy. Following an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Sulphur and spent the next 40 years working in the oilfield industry for Wayne Carter and the CJ Drilling Company, retiring in 2000.

Robert was a truly kind and generous man. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back or even his last dollar if you were in need. Prior to being unable to drive, Robert spent much of his time taking people to doctor’s appointments. Afterwards, he would often follow up with those he had driven to make sure they were okay. He always made time to listen to those needing to talk and had an open heart and wisdom to share.

Robert’s children considered him to be the best father ever. He loved spending time with them. He had a way of making people laugh and enjoyed aggravating those around until he saw a smile or heard a laugh. Robert enjoyed playing dominoes and card games with family and friends. Those games often resulted in him cheating just to win so he could aggravate the losers.

Survivors include his children, Robert Hammonds of Newcastle, Tammy Heskett and husband Jack of Sulphur, and Robin Price of Sulphur; grandchildren, Chance Heskett, Candie Cochran and husband Charlie, Charity Trussell, Chalynn Gray, JoJo Gray and Dugan Gray; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Knighten and husband Jamie, and Elizabeth McCracken; brother, Kenneth Price; several nieces and nephews including, Heather Price, Robert Maddox, Kenneth McCracken, Vickie Skidmore, Debbie Green, Betty Gargis, and Jimmy Dickerson; as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one son, Tony Dean Price; two sisters, Carmen Price, and Joanne Gooch; brothers, Junie and Jimmie Price; and son in law, Charles Gray.

Services were held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Midway Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr., officiating.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur. Online condolences may be offered at halesfuneralhomes.com.
