School Board Updated On Storm Cleanup, Insurance Claims

Holder told members the FEMA application had been filed and approved.

The district has received some up front funds from the insurance company to begin some repairs but not the majority of the claim.

During he financial report, Holder told members he was grateful the school is in solid financial status especially during this difficult time with the storm damage. Holder reported the total cash balances in all funds was in excess of $10 million. As a result of the finances, the district will have a sizeable carry-over to begin the new year, July 1.

Holder told members the district has ordered four new busses for the 2024-2025 year, and an additional three will be needed to complete the fleet that was destroyed in the April 27 tornado.

A representative of McGill Insurance and Real Estate presented a proposal to members for the 2024-2025 property, liability (all), inland marine, crime and automobile insurance. Members approved the proposal.

Athletic Director Corey Cole updated the board on the end of year sports’ activities as well as the summer sports. Cole also reported on the summer maintenance on campus as well as storm damage repairs and cleanup.

Principals John Mann, Steven Pyle and Clete Cole all reported the start of summer school on Monday with a total of 48 students attending in the intermediate, middle and high schools.

Clete Cole also reported the summer breakfast and lunch program for students had begun on Monday.

In other board action, the following agenda items were also approved:

•proposal for worker compensation for 2024-2025 school year with Oklahoma SchoolAssurance Group;

•approved Holder as authorized representative for all state and federal programs;

•approved Holder as purchasing officer with a $2,500 limit on purchases and a 20% change order limitation up to $500.00;

•approved contract with OPPA (school food service);

•approved contract withADTI for drug testing for school bus drivers; and

•approved contract with Pecan Grove for 2024-2025 school year for physical Therapy. Following a brief executive session, the board returned to the meeting and approved the resignations of Stephanie Rogers and Tessa Todd.

The board also approved the employment of Sharon Bratcher, pending background check; employment of Jaylyn Flowers, pending certification; and employment of Jordan Ward for summer school.

In new business, the board approved the resignation of Katherine Kreamer.

All five members were present at the meeting.
