David Thompson Memorial Alumni Golf Tournament Held In Sulphur

The David Thompson Memorial Sulphur Alumni Golf Tournament was held last weekend, as the yearly event continues to reunite Bulldogs of all ages and honor a legend of the community.

The A-flight was won by Jeremy Hall, Blake Nelson, Parker Tinsley and Jo Ray, as the team shot a score of -18 (54).

The runner-up in A-flight was the team of Mason Lance, Dawson Hinson, Devon Gregg and Maverick McCaskill, who shot -16 (56).

The B-flight team that took home the trophy with a score of -10 (62) consisted of Ben Lewis, Dustin York, Weston Scans and Nick West.

The runner-up in B-flight was the team of Hunter Mann, Glenn Mann, Jeremy Mann and Lasey Mann, which shot -9 (63).

LeWayne Gilbert won the closest to the pin honors on No. 8,, while Weston Fullerington won the closest to the pin on No. 5.

Landon Venegas won the long drive honors on No. 9.

As they do each year, the tournament awarded two scholarships to Sulphur high school athletes.

This year’s recipients were Casey Whitaker and Sarah Gonzalez.

Sulphur head boy’s golf coach and Elks board member Grant Bates extended a huge thank you to corporate and hole sponsors of the event.
