Murray County Commissioners met Monday in conjunction with the Murray County Excise Board to discuss the annual county budgets and Estimate of Needs.
Following a presentation by each county officer on budget needs for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, commissioners approved making the recommendation to the Excise Board.
Members approved budgeting one-half of last year;s revenue to each county office to begin the new fiscal year with a few exceptions The election board and extension office received 100% of the past year’s budget. The final budget for the county offices will be presented in September.
Most all of the budgets remained the same or were less than last year’s requests.
The county offices also receive sales tax funding each year to supplement the budget requests and that will be presented at next week’s meeting.
In other agenda action the board approved the following annual resolutions:
•2024-25 officers salaries;
•travel allowance for county officers;
•authorizing the Murray County Treasurer to move funds if needed and commissioners requested treasurer to deposit all interest earned on deposits in general fund; and
•approved investment policy for Murray County Treasurer.
The board also approved a memorandum agreement between Murray County Board of Commissioners and the 20th Division II Treatment Court, Inc. The agreement allows for application for an approximate $44,000.00 grant to serve Murray County residents in drug rehab, metal health, juvenile division and more.
Members approved a threeyear lease agreement between he Murray County Commissioners and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the Murray County Workforce Center.
A Programming Resolution for Dolberg Road from U.S. 177 east to Roberson Road was approved by the board.
Members also approved a Resolution for Declaration of Surplus and Disposing of equipment for the Murray County Expo.
In final action, members awarded six-months’ bids that were received and accepted at last weeks meeting.
Following are the bids awarded and successful bidders: Bomag--Seal Masters; Road oil--Ergon. Rock Hauling-Brown Trucking, C &C Contractors, and K & B Trucking; road materials--P & K, Vulcan, Martin Marietta (Mill Creek, Washita & Davis locations), Hanson Aggregates, Share Corp and Dolese; hot and cold asphalt--Overland and Seal Masters; laying asphalt--Seal Masters; oil & chip--Seal Masters; roadside spraying--Shuterra and road stripping--Advanced Work Zone.
District 1 Commissioner Kent McKinley was absent at the meeting.
