Ronal Loy Newton was born March 12, 1944, in Hobart, to the late Vertus and Juanita (Richie) Newton. He died on Friday, June 28, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 80. He and Dorothy Jane Collinsworth were married on October 24, 1961. To this union were born two sons, Dwayne and Shawn. Dorothy preceded him in death on November 21, 2002. On March 27, 2004, Ronal married the former Ms. Regenia A. McBee, in Sulphur.
Ronal grew up in Oklahoma City. After high school, he attended Murray State College and later East Central University, where he earned his master’s degree. In the early years of his working career, Ronal designed oil rigs, as well as owning and operating a metal fabrication shop, and a welding service. After moving to the Arbuckle Lake area in the late 1980’s, Ronal worked for Haliburton Services, and later as a program director for Murray State College, retiring in 2008. Other areas of his life included attending seminary school, as well as becoming a licensed pilot.
In his retirement years, Ronal enjoyed “piddling” around his shop, doing metal works, tinkering with old cars and motorcycles, and occasionally fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Regenia; his two sons, Dwayne Newton and wife Annie of Norman, and Shawn Newton and wife Rena, of Ardmore; step-daughter, Denise Coffey and husband Mike of Ardmore; five grandchildren, Jacob Newton, Sam Newton, Wayne Coffey, Derek Coffey and wife Kayla, and Beth Clinton and husband Johnny; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Emma; as well as one sister, Sally Zable of Edmond.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Ronal was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Newton and one brother, Lavon Newton.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur, with Pastor Bill Black officiating.
