Holiday Caution Urged

Local residents are reminded to exercise caution leading up to the July 4th holiday, especially with fireworks, and while at the lake or other venues. Temperatures are expected to be hot and dry all this week, posing a fire danger risk, officials said.

Local residents are reminded to exercise caution leading up to the July 4th holiday, especially with fireworks, and while at the lake or other venues. Temperatures are expected to be hot and dry all this week, posing a fire danger risk, officials said.

In addition to the fire danger risk, temperatures are expected to soar above 100 degrees through Thursday until a slight cool-down begins Friday, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Norman.

Celebrations Set

In Davis, an Independence Day celebration and festival with live entertainment, food trucks, local vendor booths, games and activities will be held at Fullerton Park in Davis on Friday, July 5 with a fireworks show starting at dusk.

In Sulphur, the Chickasaw Nation will hold its annual Beats and Bites celebration on Saturday, July 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the Artesian Hotel in the downtown area.
