Former Sulphur residents, Sheri Hicks Witham, of Henryetta, and Gary Hicks, of Tulsa, are hand crafting “Sulphur Strong” Walking Sticks from limbs of trees that were destroyed in the April 27 tornado.
The pair have visited Sulphur several times and gathered limbs from the limb yard, along the streets and by Rock Creek to make the sticks.
Each walking stick comes with an engraved plate that says “Sulphur Strong Walking Sticks” with a picture of a tornado along with the crafted #. On the back the plate says: “Gathered and crafted after the April 27, 2024 tornado. Cost donated to Sulphur’s recovery. Thank you.”
The sticks sell for $25 and all proceeds are being donated to tax deductible Community Foundation Account at First National Bank in Sulphur.
Sticks can be ordered by calling Sheri at 918-759-0199 or messaging Sheri Hicks Wtham on FaceBook or Messenger.
Sheri and Gary are the children of the late Byron and Pat Hicks and the grandchildren of former Sulphur icon, C. D. “Clyde” and Jerri Hicks.
On Saturday, July 13, the pair came to Sulphur to present the 3rd stick in the production to former Sulphur funeral director, Major Clagg, shown standing in the center in the photo.
