Wanda Sue (Pittman) Griffin
Born February 18, 1930 in Tishomingo, to George H. Pittman and Willie Ora (Warner) Pittman, she passed away December 11, 2024 in Sulphur at the age of 94 years, nine months and 23 days.
She was raised in Tishomingo and graduated from Tishomingo High School. She married Flake Hamilton Griffin on June 5, 1948 in Sherman, TX. While Flake worked as a packer hand in the oil field and as a farmer and rancher, Sue was a tremendous homemaker and bookkeeper.
Sue and Flake lived inArdmore and then Stephens County for many, many years before moving to the Sulphur area around 2005. They were known for never missing a ballgame of their five grandsons and being an agricultural pillar in the surrounding areas.
She was also heavily involved in the Sulphur Nutrition Center and worked for many years at the Secret Garden Tea Room in Sulphur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Flake, on Jan. 12, 2019; brothers GW (Buddy) Pittman, Henry Wayne Pitrtman, Clark Pittman and Bobby Ray Pittman; sisters, Marie Pittman, Betty Pittman and Kanola Geraldine Pittman.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Darryl Carter of Sulphur; one son, and daughter-in-law, Tom and Janice Griffin of Marlow; her sister, Georgia Sanner of Enid; five grandsons, T.H. Griffin and wife, Valerie of Austin, TX, Wade Griffin and wife, Terra of Weimar, TX, Tyler Griffin and wife, Kim, of Guthrie, Whitt Carter and wife, Madison of Broken Arrow and Kendall Carter and wife, Sarah of Ada; 14 great grandchildren, Amelia, Savannah and Ava Griffin of Austin, TX, Gracelynn and Gaines Griffin of Guthrie, Taylor, MJ, Carsyn and Callan Griffin of Weimar, TX, Crew and Cobi Carter of Broken Arrow and Noa, Kaius and Meyer Carter of Ada; bonus grandchildren Jeremy and Janelle Hardoin; and great grandchildren Grady and Addy Hardoin.
Sue also had many nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to the Sulphur Nutrition Center at 728 Cambridge Dr., Sulphur, OK 73086.
The family would like to thank the WillowsAssisted Living of Pauls Valley and the Artesian Nursing Home of Sulphur for their loving care.
Serving as pallbearers will be T H Griffin, Wade Griffin, Tyler Griffin, Whitt Carter, Kendall Carter and Jeremy Hardoin.
Officiating at the service will be Tyler Griffin and Whitt Carter.
