Sandra “Sandy” Foster

Sandra “Sandy” Foster

Sandra “Sandy” Foster, 79, of Sulphur, passed away peacefully at her home on December 22, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Sandy was born on June 21, 1945, in Hugo, to John Dock and Oleta Capell.

The youngest of three children, she was cherished by her older sister Jean Roberson and older brother John Capell. Known for her gift of effortless conversation, even with stranger, Sandy’s charm masked the shyness of her youth. She inherited her father’s sharp wit, often lightening even the most difficult situations with her humor.

At just 16, while working as a waitress in a small cafe in Hugo, she met a handsome patron named Robert Foster. Their brief yet sweet courtship led to a lifetime of love when they married on December 29, 1961, in a simple courthouse ceremony with Sandy’s parents in attendance. Sandy and Robert shared an extraordinary love story, celebrating 60 beautiful years of marriage before his passing on February 17, 2022.

Sandy possessed a true servant’s heart. She faithfully cared for her family and friends, showing her love through her scratch-made cooking and baking. Together, she and Robert dedicated their lives to making a difference, especially through their passion for winning young souls to Christ. They ran a bus ministry for years, often hearing from those now-grown children about the profound impact Sandy and Robert had on their lives. Their home was always open, and Sandy’s Sunday dinners often brought together as many as 20 guests, filled with love, laughter, and fellowship.

Sandy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping, fishing, traveling, sewing for her family, and playing canasta and dominoes. Her humor, compassion, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, John Dock and Oleta Capell; her sister, Jean Roberson; and her beloved husband, Robert Foster.

She is survived by her brother, John Capell; her children: Debbie Dodson of Sulphur, Jay Foster of Colorado, and Ronnie Foster (Tammy) of Sulphur; her grandchildren, Glenna (Johnny) Howe ofArizona, Tommy Dodson of Sulphur, Maddison (Nick) Gagliardi of Ada, and Jayden and Ava Foster of Colorado; and her great-grandchildren, Savanna and Sadie Howe and Gage and Gunner Gagliardi.

Each of these cherished family members was deeply loved by Sandy, and her legacy lives on in their hearts. Sandy Foster lived a life filled with faith, love, and laughter, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and grace. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved Robert in the arms of their Savior.

A celebration of Sandy’s life was held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, in the Chapel of Crossway Baptist Church in Sulphur with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur. The family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her remarkable life.
