Tommie Gene Thompson
He grew up and graduated from Sulphur High School with the class of 1961. After graduation, he served our country joining the United States Navy. Gene then married Pam Perry on June 5, 1964 in Stratford. They were married for 61 years. He worked in sales at first, working his way up to district manager, for Mutual of Omaha, earning numerous awards.
He and Pam worked diligently for all churches they attended during their marriage. He was a spiritual leader teaching Bible study classes on Wednesday nights. They lived at Lake Texoma where he served as President of the men’s Texoma Golf Association at Chickasaw Point, moving to Blanchard several years ago where he joined the men’s golf association in Purcell.
Gene and Pam were members of the Blanchard Church of Christ. He lived a good life loving his family and friends and serving the Lord all his days, he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 20 siblings; and a brother, David Thompson.
He is survived by his wife Pam, of the home in Blanchard; two daughters, Sheila Thompson, Jennifer (Thompson) Cook and husband Terry; three grandchildren, Conner Gene Thompson and wife Kim, Ava Nikole Robert and Jesse Nikolas Robert; great-grandchildren, Layla Marie, Jordan Gene, and Baker Tate Thompson; sister Tommie (Thompson) Grimes and husband Joe; and sister-in-law, Vicki Rennie and brother-in-law Boyd Glynn Perry.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in DeArman/Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday Jan.16, 2025 in the Blanchard Church of Christ, Blanchard, Oklahoma with Buster Sides officiating.
Interment will follow in McGee cemetery in Stratford.
