Patricia, better known by her family as “Sissy,” grew up in Princeton, West Virginia. After graduating from Princeton High School, she attended college on a basketball scholarship, earning a degree in business administration. She was an excellent student, being listed on the honor roll in both high school and college. After college, Patricia spent several years working as a paralegal for the Akers Law Firm in Princeton.
On April 7,2001, Patricia married Tommy Ray Canup and moved to Davis. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2024. While living in Davis, she worked at the EZ-Mart convenience store. Patricia was a quiet, reserved lady. She spent most of her spare time caring for her family and beloved dogs. In earlier years, Patricia owned a beautiful purple Camaro that she entered in numerous car shows, earning many trophies and awards.
Survivors include her mother-in-law, Patricia “Patty” Canup; two siblings, Deborah Land of Virginia and Glen Blankenship of West Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Patricia was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Billow and Sherry Lynn Pettrey; one brother, Larry Blankenship; as well as her father-in-law, Billy “Two-Penny” Canup .
A private graveside service will be held at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
