Brenda Joyce (Stover) Bellamy

Brenda Joyce (Stover) Bellamy

Brenda Joyce (Stover) Bellamy, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in the early afternoon hours on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 27, 1940, in Wannette, Oklahoma, Brenda was the daughter of John and Altha (Kesler) Stover.

In 1951, when Brenda was in sixth grade, her family moved to Sulphur, where she later graduated from Sulphur High School in 1958. On October 24, 1959, Brenda married Ralph Edward Bellamy in Springfield, Colorado, and the couple moved to San Diego, California. Soon after the birth of their first son, Marty, they returned to Moore, Oklahoma. Brenda’s desire to raise her children in a rural setting led the family to Seminole, where she helped design their family home, which became their cherished homestead. After the birth of their grandchildren, Brenda and Ralph moved back to Sulphur, to be closer to family and share their fond childhood memories with their grandchildren.

Brenda was the cornerstone of her family, always putting the needs of others before her own. As the matriarch, she managed and coordinated family events with love and care. She played a central role in the lives of her family, making sure that all were well taken care of, particularly during the time when both her widowed mother, Altha Stover, and Ralph’s mother, Ethal Bellamy, lived with them in Seminole, where Brenda was the primary caregiver. Throughout her life, Brenda exemplified selflessness and devotion, ensuring the health and happiness of her loved ones, like a living guardian angel.

Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Edward Bellamy; her father, John Stover; her mother, Altha Stover; her sister, Norma Jean Scott; and her brothers, Euell and Tommy Stover.

She is survived by her sons, Marty and wife Laura, and Rodney and wife Tammy; her grandchildren, Courtney, Ryan, and Paisley; as well as many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

Brenda’s legacy of love, devotion, and service to her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be remembered fondly, and her presence will be sorely missed.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Brenda Joyce Bellamy were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at Crossway Baptist Church Chapel in Sulphur, with Bryan Hetherington officiating. Interment followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Those serving as pallbearers were Ryan Bellamy, Casey Stover, Emit Stover, Allen Stover, Ross Stover, and Bart Stover. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Kutz, Clifford Hughes, Brett Jackson and Enos Stover.
