Mildred Pearl Mink

Mildred Pearl (Shackelford) Mink, 91 of Buncombe Creek, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at her home. She was born March 21, 1933 in Stratford, to the late Charles F. Shackelford and Pearl (Teel) Shackelford.

Mildred was raised in the Stratford area. She married Doyle J. Mink on September 3, 1949, in Pauls Valley. In her earlier years, she worked as a beauty operator and nurse’s aide. Mildred and Doyle owned and operated Suburban Lanes bowling alley in Sulphur for around 15 years. Many of her younger patrons compassionately referred to her as “Mama Mink” while her grandchildren and great grandchildren referred to her as “Nana.” Upon selling the business and retiring, they moved to the Lake Texoma area.

Mildred was affiliated with the Church of Christ in her youth. She enjoyed playing card games, bowling, fishing, hand-quilting, bingo and later in life, her many trips to the casino.

She is survived by here children, Tricia Barnes and husband Al, Durant, Vicky J. Adamson, Buncombe Creek, Connie Braden and husband Tim, Notasulga, Al.; grandchildren, Sheli Stovall and husband Shane, D. J. Mink and wife Makyorie, Rina Chew and husband Rob, Tricia Stephens and husband Tracie, Melisa Klebba and husband Joseph, Robert Mink, Aaron Braden and wife Hannah, Kaycee Highsmith and husband Garret; 21 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; four sisters; husband, Doyle J. Mink; son Gary D. Mink; and grandson Creston Barnes.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Watts Funeral Home, Kingston, Oklahoma from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watts Funeral Home, Kingston, Oklahoma. Joe Patterson will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Shay Cemetery, Shay, Oklahoma. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.

Pallbearers will be D. J. Mink, Robert Mink, Jayden Mink, Aaron Braden, Tim Braden, Garret Highsmith, Shane Stovall, and Tyler Stovall.
