Jimmy Lee Salter

Jimmy Lee Salter was born November 2, 1946, in Davis, to the late D.O. and Crystal Leah (Pierce) Salter. He passed on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Joy, at the age of 78. He and the former Ms. Patsy K. Willis were united in marriage on August 19, 1967, in Ringling, OK. To this union were born three sons, Jimmy Kyle, Kevin Lee, and Kristopher Scott.

Jimmy grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1965.After high school he continued his education at Murray State College, prior to attending Oklahoma State University where he earned a degree in Agriculture Education. While attending OSU, he and Patsy made their home in Stillwater, where in addition to going to school, he also worked as a truck driver for Stillwater Milling Company. After graduating, he and his young family returned to Davis, where he continued his employment with Stillwater Milling.

In the early 1970’s, Jimmy became a partner with his father, owning and operating the Salter Oil Company. In 2005, after 35+ years in the gas and oil business, Jimmy sold the company and retired. It was at this time that he and Patsy moved to the Joy area. In 2007, Jimmy decided retirement was not for him and began working at the Oklahoma School for Deaf in their maintenance department, retiring in 2015.

In addition to his many years in the gas and oil industry, Jimmy also raised cattle. This was a hobby that he greatly enjoyed and continued until his death. In earlier years, he also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Jimmy loved spending time mowing, every chance he had.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patsy; three sons, Kyle Salter of Davis, Kevin Salter and fiancé Kelly of Oklahoma City, and Kris Salter and wife Jenny of Ada; five grandchildren, John Salter and wife Bekah, Brandon Salter, Kristin Pullen and husband Tanner, Abby Salter and Mason Salter; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Kydon, Jayla, Blakely, Every, Tripp and Archer.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his in-laws, Joe and Ruth Willis.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Pathway Methodist Church in Davis. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
