Glenda Sue (Doty) Wade

Glenda Sue (Doty) Wade

Glenda Sue (Doty) Wade passed away on March 15, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born on September 3, 1944, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, to Robert Houston and Edith Dale (Billings) Doty.

Glenda was born and raised in Sulphur, where she spent her childhood helping at the family café and station. She was active in school, serving as a drum majorette in the band, and she enjoyed swimming in the park, Vendome and Belleview. She graduated in 1962 from Sulphur High School, and later in life attended Cameron University for Elementary Education.

On May 25, 1962, Glenda married the love of her life, Melvin Jerry Wade. She worked as a beautician in her own shop for many years. She then went to work for Coopers Auto Department and later retired from Oklahoma School for the Deaf as a cook. She took pride in caring for her family, enjoying time in her yard, playing bingo, and tending to animals. Known for making the best Thanksgiving dressing, beans, and cornbread, she loved gathering her family together for meals.

Glenda’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, always putting others before herself. She taught those around her to work hard, be kind, and give more than they take.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Jerry Wade; her parents, Robert and Edith Dot;y and siblings, Don Wayne Doty and Coleta Jean Gorrell; and sister in law, Nancy Doty.

She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her son, Richard Dean Wade; daughters, Donna Jean Smith, Tammy Sue Stallings, and Jerri Dawn Saunders and husband Steven; brother, Robert Houston Jr. (Bob) Doty; sister in law, Becky Doty; grandchildren, Derek Whiten, Lauren and Kalub Berry, Chelsie Stallings, Autum and Blake Looney, Roxie McGee, Taylor and Jeff Balderson, Bo and Tiffany Stallings, Allie and Dyson Runyan, Emily and Ryan Billy, and Augustus and Shaelee Wade; great-grandchildren, Rylie, Blaine, Reed, Rush, Ryker, Remington, Greyson, Drake, Drue, Kynlee, Haylee, Rylee, Aston, Londyn, Caiden, KJ, Maebry, Devin, Jaxon, Teagon, Chayson, and Ryzon; as well as a host of other beloved family members and friends.
