James David Pierce
David was born on January 10, 1958, in Sulphur, to Margaret “Tess” Pierce and the late Virgil Pierce. He attended Sulphur schools and graduated from Sulphur High School. David continued his education at East Central University, earning a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Following his education, David began his career with Ditch Witch, which prompted his move to Perry. He established his home there and raised his two children, Chloe and Caleb Pierce. David traveled all over the world throughout his career while remaining deeply involved in his community. He coached little league sports teams and served as the Perry Golf and Country Club president for many years. After more than 40 years of dedicated service at Ditch Witch, David retired and returned to his hometown of Sulphur in 2022.
David enjoyed attending Crossway Baptist Church in Sulphur, traveling with his spouse, Lynn, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his children and family. He was known for his love of sports, never missing a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game, and proudly owning University of Oklahoma season football tickets for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his spouse, Lynn Hickman; mother, Margaret (Tess) Pierce, both of Sulphur; daughter, Chloe Pierce, of Dallas, TX; son, Caleb Pierce, of Norman; sister, Cathleen, and brother-in-law, Jeff Branscum, of Ada; nephews, Chance Branscum, of Ada, Dillon Branscum and his wife Marcela, of Houston, TX; many cousins and grand nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Pierce, and his grandparents, Charlie and Anna Pierce, Mildred Lowrey and Wiley Lowrey.
Pallbearers were Brian Hollis, Rick Johnson, Shan Kirtley, Benji Sartors, Cory Smith, and Glenn White.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the missions/children’s youth programs at Crossway Church, 2108 W Broadway St, Sulphur, OK 73086.
The family will received friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Crosswaty Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Crossway Baptist Church with interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Arrangements have been made under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.
