Joe Brady

Joe Brady, a resident of Sulphur, was born at home on April 1, 1938 in Blackwell. He was the last child born to Richard Brady and Ola Belle (Craddock) Brady. Joe passed away on Saturday March 22, 2025 in Norman, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 22 days.

At the age of six months, Joe’s family moved to Henryetta. In March of 1956 Joe joined the Navy and left for San Diego California, two days before his 18th birthday. He served several tours on the U.S.S. Mt. McKinnley. He was released from active duty in February of 1959. It was following his return home that he began dating Patsy Sue Shaffer. Joe and Pat married on December 26, 1959. Together, they had three children, Ronald Clyde Brady, Robert Joseph Brady, and Belinda Renee Brady.

Joe worked a variety of jobs over the next several years to support his family. He worked for Liberty Glass, Eagle Pitcher Smelter, North American Rockwell, the M.K. & T. Railroad, Platt National Park, and as owner and operator of his own full service Sinclair gas station and wrecker service . In 1980, Joe started college at East Central University in Ada graduating in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts Education. He worked as a supervisor at the Paul’s Valley State School until his retirement.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard Brady, Bob Brady and Jim Brady; his sister, Betty Davis; and the love of his life, Patsy Sue Brady.

Joe is survived by his children, Ronald Clyde Brady, Robert Joseph Brady and wife Janelle and Belinda Renee Brady Rieger, all of Norman; six grandchildren, Joseph Brady, Matthew Brady and wife Kelle, Brady Rieger, Madelyn Rieger, Austin Clemons and Jayna Dunlap and husband Tyler; three great grandchildren, Charlie Brady, Cashyn Dunlap and Callie Dunlap; sister-in-law, Delilah Myers and husband Edgar of Longview, TX; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Joe Brady will be held on April 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Crossway Baptist Church Sanctuary.
