Ronnie James Veach was born November 5, 1946, in Davis, to the late James T. and Ellen S. (Yancy) Veach. He died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 77. Ronnie and the former Ms. Betty Jean Cottrell were married on March 24, 1971, in Sulphur. From this union was born one son, Rodney.

Carl Lee Brooks was born November 18, 1953, in Dougherty, to the late Alfred Namon and Effie Bernice (Haney) Brooks. He died Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 70.

Graveside services for TammyAnette Moore will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at the Condon Grove Cemetery, in Milburn, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr officiating.

Tonya Michelle Cup, 46, was born August 11, 1977, in McAlester, to the late Tommy Lee and Nellie Francine (Davis) Cupp. She died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, in Ardmore, following a 27-year battle with kidney disease.

Larry Paul Kelly, 66, of Sulphur, was born June 4, 1957 in Bakersfi eld, California and went home to the Lord on February 10, 2024. Larry had a 30-year career as a long-haul truck driver that took him all across the United States. During his career, he received numerous accommodations and was known to all on the CB Radio as “Waawho.” Larry retired from long-haul trucking but couldn’t stay away from the truck and continued to drive for Pavers Inc. out of Davis until his full retirement.

John Stephe Palesano was born on February 7, 1934, in Ft. Cobb, OK, to the late John and Beaulah (Cottrell) Palesano. He died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, in Norman, at the age of 90 years and 1 day.

Joseph “Jodie” L.B. Kennedy, 91, passed away on February 12, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and love.

Graveside services for Joe Edward Barnett will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr., officiating.

Augusta Ernestine Atchley, better known as Ernestine, was born on October 2, 1937, in Benton, AR. She died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, in Ardmore, at the age of 86.

Funeral services for James Elvin Harden will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur.

The Sulphur boys suffered two tough losses last week, as the Dogs fell 65-49 at Lone Grove on Tuesday and 55-39 on Friday at Kingston.

The Sulphur wrestling team had another strong showing at the dual state tournament, finishing as state semifinalists for the second straight season.
